Mr. McFarlane's expertise in the physical design of data centers is, simply, unmatched. As president of Interport, a firm specializing in data center and trading floor design that was acquired by Shen Milsom & Wilke in 1999, he has more than 30 years of experience in communications consulting, including video, cable design, fiber optics, telephony, computer communications, satellite earth stations, and acoustics.

Mr. McFarlane majored in engineering and physics at Colorado State University. He is on the adjunct faculty for telecommunications at New York University. He is a frequent speaker and author on data center design.
