Multimedia/audiovisual
Our unified approach to distributing and presenting voice, data, and video has given us experience in many types of multimedia projects. Currently, streaming media technology sits at the forefront of our consulting practice, helping clients to:
Deliver video to the desktop along with voice and data;
Videoconference over LAN/WAN; and
View streaming media over IP telephony.

Information technology/telecommunications
Data and voice transmission must be reliable, fast, and broad enough to satisfy current needs and support future goals. We work to design flexible, convertible, and adaptable technology infrastructure.

Applications-independent cabling supports voice, data, video, and audio. Technology spaces within a building are based on client needs and national governance standards. Streamlined design reduces the size of the cable plant and number of cable closets.

Aside from our standard services, we provide cable plant, wireless environments, redundancy and backup, and voice and data network design, including voice over Internet protocol (VoIP).

Building security
Our approach to building security balances common sense and convenience with threat assessment and emergency planning. It is based on, first, evaluating threats--including employee theft, bomb threats, and catastrophic events--and assessing how these will affect the building, personnel, and the profitability of the business.

To mitigate these events, we employ a range of approaches, from complex infrared scanning systems for access control to closed-circuit television systems. We are also experienced in deploying radio frequency identification systems.

Acoustics
From broad conceptual master planning to detailed specifications, it's our goal to provide clients with clear and practical guidance for each project. At the same time, we enhance the design process and the finished project.

Shen Milsom & Wilke's acoustic consulting practice spans all industry sectors, from studios to research centers. Some key specialties are interior room acoustics, sound isolation, mechanical noise control, vibration analysis, and community noise assessments.

Additionally, our auralization tools allow clients to listen to computer-generated sound simulations and, even in the earliest design phases, experience the difference that our involvement can make.

Medical equipment planning
Medical equipment planning is a recent and complementary addition to our healthcare services. In acquiring Equipment Planners Inc. (EPI) in early 2007, we bring 26 years of knowledge and experience on projects ranging from small, single-department renovations to new construction of major medical institutions.

Information technology and medical equipment are rapidly converging. Shen Milsom & Wilke, together with EPI, bring a thorough knowledge of the systems that support medical technologies, such as networks, multimedia, and control systems, highly detailed equipment knowledge, and acoustic and vibration control guidance.

We do not depend upon manufacturers to provide planning assistance. As a result we are more responsive to your needs and offer impartial product recommendations. Our consulting and design work saves money by providing technology assessment studies; specialty planning; expert knowledge of current and emerging technology; equipment programming, budgeting and prioritization; and bid analysis.
