Rafael Diaz-Balart Hall, home of the Florida International University College of Law in Miami

Completion: Autumn 2006
Size: 155,000 square feet

Architect: Robert A.M. Stern Architects,
New York City
Acoustics: Shen Milsom & Wilke,
New York City

Shen Milsom & Wilke provided acoustic consulting to quiet two spacious interior courtyards, an atrium, reading room, auditorium, legal clinic, and two teaching courtrooms. Mechanical noise and vibration control ensure that the building’s HVAC system does not drown out a professor’s voice or interfere with proceedings at one of the teaching courtrooms.
