The 35-seat videoconference classroom, or E-Suite, allows students to watch the procedure and talk with the surgical team at the Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, IL. The E-Suite includes two flat-panel displays that slide on an arm-and-rail system for easy viewing, microphones embedded in the ceiling so chairs and tables can be reconfigured, and a touch-panel console for easy system control. Cameras in the room train automatically to places where sound.is sensed, allowing the operating room staff to see their young audience. The equipment allows recording and Web casting. Acoustics were designed to accommodate the videoconferencing and 35 boisterous young people. The air handling system was hushed and hard surfaces were minimized to limit reverberation. |
