New York City
Completion: Summer 2006

Architect: DMJM Aviation; Silvester + Tafuro, interior designers
Acoustics, public address system: Shen Milsom & Wilke

The new 2.2 million-square-foot American Airlines Terminal involves replacing the current terminals 8 and 9 with one of the world's largest privately owned terminals, while maintaining passenger flight services. The digital audio public address system project will require more than 3,000 loudspeakers divided into several hundred zones. The project includes a main terminal with 220 check-in counters, baggage handling, customs and immigration processing facilities, airline offices, passenger club lounges, and three concourse terminals.
